Golf Courses in South Africa - Paarl/ Boschenmeer
Situated
60 km outside Cape Town, Paarl is a wealthy city that has a great number
of Victorian and Cape Dutch style buildings. It is host to KWV, the controlling
body and co-operative of the Cape Wine industry.
Situated in the Cape Winelands; Paarl is one of the most popular courses
in the cape because it is almost completely protected from the wind. It
is a relatively flat course with ancient trees lining the fairways. Unusually
this course is a par 74 with no less than six par 5's.
One of the distinguishing features of the par five 16th hole is a huge
acorn tree right in the middle of the fairway. The par three 6th hole
is probably the most scenic. Standing on the tee one has a beautiful view
of the vineyards and Berg River to the left and in the background is the
majestic mountain ranges of the escarpment.
